The Midtown Palo Alto Garden was founded in 1994 to promote the concept of urban agriculture and tangibly demonstrate the benefits in an organic garden open to the community.
Located just a short walk from BAA’s offices at 715 Colorado Avenue, the garden site was previously an empty dirt lot. BAA then-co-director Jim Steinmetz researched the owner and convinced them to let BAA use the site for free. Water was donated by the nearby Palo Alto Co-op store.
