Redwood Summer was three months of environmental activism in 1990 organized by Earth First! aimed at protecting old-growth redwood trees from logging by northern California timber companies. Modeled after the Mississippi Summer of the 1960s civil rights movement, organizers sought a large influx from urban areas in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, to the small rural logging towns of Humboldt County.
Bay Area Action mobilized citizens and volunteers for numerous trips during the summer.
