Bio

Elizabeth Miller was an EEAT volunteer at Thursday Night Dinner Salons and also volunteered at the Gazos Mountain Camp. “It was a wonderful place to hang out with others and I have fond memories of all who joined the effort at that time,” she recalled in 2025.

Elizabeth is Professor Emerita of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Stanford University, renowned for her pioneering research in structural geology and tectonics, particularly in extensional tectonics and Arctic geology. Over her distinguished career, she has combined field-based geologic mapping with multidisciplinary approaches to advance understanding of lithospheric deformation, mentored generations of geoscientists, and was honored with the Geological Society of America’s 2018 Career Contribution Award for her influential scientific and educational contributions.
